Welcome To Open Air Radio

About us

A breath of fresh air in your community

Open Air Radio (Leicester) was originally created for the former pupils and staff of Leicester’s Western Park Open Air School a special needs school located in the United Kingdom. The school first opened in 1930 and was closed in 2005 due to local authority funding cuts.
Now the site lays disused and boarded up its only visitors being local vandals and the local residents who assist Mr Glynn Finney a proud former pupil and now Official Historian for the school site and its amazing chapter in Medical History. Glynn funds Open Air Radio from his own pocket for the entertainment of his friends who also once attended this amazing school & the local community that support his endless efforts it is Glynn's wish to turn this station into a fully functional community radio station with its main mission to provide an accessible station for all.
Where persons with disabilities may excersies their passion for music and to learn new skills in the safe surroundings of a volunteer based community radio station.
